Beth and David where married at Double Tree by Hilton Lincoln https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/huylndi-doubletree-lincoln/ in June and this was a wedding I was very much looking forward to for a long time. I was booked for this wedding in February 2020 and we all know what happened shortly after that dont we. Anyway the day finally came around and what a day it was.

Bridal Preparation and Groom portraits.

I started, as always with bridal portraits. The rooms at The Hilton are a little tight and maybe not the most photogenic of places, however, I do love the challenge of shooting in places like this as I love trying to find the light to produce dynamic and creative portraits in these situations. Everyone knows I love black and white portraits and these are no exceptions, lovely as always.

The Ceremony.

Beth told me one of the things she was most looking forward to on the day was seeing Davids face when he finally saw her in her wedding dress as it had been hidden at her dads house for over a year, well worth the wait. It was also lovely to see Beth and Davids children Isla and Liam so involved in the ceremony, it certainly got emotional at times.

Photos at Lincoln Cathedral.

Hilton Double Tree by Hilton Lincoln is not blessed with a great deal of outdoor space apart from a large balcony as it is based right on Lincoln Brayford. But we did manage to shoot the essential "mum and dad" photos there. One image I do particularly love is this photo of the groomsmen, it's a great angle to shoot from.

However, as with any wedding I shoot in central Lincoln I am lucky enough to have the Cathedral a short drive from most hotels which always provides a beautiful location and backdrop for great photography. So after the ceremony we went there with Liam and Isla in tow. I love shooting at the cathedral, its such an iconic part of Lincolns history and identity and its great to include it in all my wedding photos taken in the city. These are such a great collection of images for Beth and David with both bride and groom portraits and some lovely family photos too. In fact the image that really stands out from the day according to Beth is the photo of Beth and David in front of the cathedral with their wedding car behind them, its a lovely image, beautifully composed and of course really strong in black and white, great choice Beth, could not agree more.
