Stubton Hall.

Its no secret that I love shooting weddings at Stubton Hall. This stunning, exclusive venue is on the border of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and set in 23 acres of beautiful gardens and parkland. With 25 bedrooms and 4 reception rooms Stubton Hall can host weddings catering up to 200 guests. Smaller and intimate weddings can be hosted in the lovely orangery.

So why do I love shooting at Stubton Hall so much?

The staff are just lovely, very organised and experienced at dealing with weddings of all shapes and sizes.

Most importantly though, to me as a wedding photographer there are so many great locations for beautiful photography at this venue. I know I can create stunning images at every wedding I shoot there. So let's look at my top 5 locations for beautiful photography at Stubton Hall.

The Bridal Suite.

Obviously every wedding I shoot will begin with bridal preparation, and what better place to produce these images that the bridal suite at Stubton Hall. There is so much space and beautiful large windows that give me so much lovely natural light to utilise. The large bed is great for my "bride squad" photos and I love these images when the girls are all in matching gowns. Obviously you are allowed to drink plenty of prosecco before I shoot these, just to help get in the mood.

With so much space to use here another great shot I like to produce is the brides reveal to the bridesmaids. I love the reactions of the girls when they first see how amazing the bride looks.

The next shot that is always a winner for me is father of the bride when he first sees his daughter ready for her wedding. Wedding photography for me is all about capturing emotion and expression, and there is rarely more of an emotional moment than this. Never a dry eye in the house.

Phew, when thats all in the bag I can concentrate on bridal portraits. Again so much natural light available in here, and with a beautiful and radiant bride, I know I will produce beautiful portraits here. I might even shoot the groom at some point to, you never know.

Oh did I mention that amazing large window? Great for silhouette images too.

The Staircase.

There is a not a wedding photographer in existence who has shot at Stubton Hall that does not use the iconic staircase with its stunning chandelier. It is such an immense part of this venue.

This is where I will focus on the bride and the bridal party making their way to the ceremony.

There is always time to produce great images of bridesmaids here too.

The Ceremony Room.

This room is blessed with beautiful large windows so again has plenty of natural daylight available. It can get a bit challenging shooting in here in mid summer when it gets really bright and the sunlight can be directly on bride and groom during the ceremony, but hey, I am a professional and I can deal with difficult lighting conditions.

I love the images I can produce in these moments before the bride arrives. Images like excited parents and nervous grooms. And then of course the moment we all wait for, the brides entrance and the moment bride and groom see each other for the first time. Bonus points if I catch the groom with a few tears in his eyes.

Bottom of the stairs.

OK, I will admit this is actually my favourite place of all. The window at the bottom of the stairs gives me the most incredible light and I can produce beautiful individual portraits of the bride and groom and also stunning couple portraits. These images I do feel define my style as a wedding photographer, images that have style, emotion and drama.

Water Feature.

This is another great location to shoot at and I like to shoot bride and groom portraits here. I normally like to do these after the speeches when there is always a bit of down time before the evening entertainment. I really like the composition with these images as bride and groom are so prominent in the foreground and Stubton Hall is nicely positioned in the background. I can always produce romantic images from here.

Technical note, I always use fill in studio flash when I shoot from here to darken the background down to make it a bit moody and dramatic, this also make my subjects really stand out.
